Thin wall is a structural load bearing insulated precast building envelope system that features composite action between concrete wythes. As with architectural panels insulated sandwich wall panels can be strictly architectural strictly structural or a combination. The two layers of concrete often referred to as concrete wythes are connected by one of many wythe connecting systems. An insulated precast concrete wall panel or sandwich wall panel as it is sometimes called is a precast concrete wall panel with two layers of concrete separated by a layer of rigid insulation see figure 1.

The system enables a very energy efficient building with edge to edge eps or xps insulation without thermal bridges and uses less concrete than traditional structural wall panels. This combination is also completely fire resistant and sound transmission is reduced allowing intrusive noise to be kept at a minimum.
