Set the timer control for a timed dry high heat and start the dryer.
Kenmore gas dryer igniter glows but no heat.
Ignites the gas in the burner to create a flame.
Peek through that hole to see if the igniter is glowing.
This sequence normally takes about a minute.
The igniter uses heat to ignite the gas in the burner assembly.
I have a gas dryer that runs but does not heat.
The igniter glows for a few seconds but the gas valve never opens guess i have already changed the solenoids twice but it did not help the gas is line connected and the supply valve is open it actually had a few little spurts of flame come out ot the the valve going into the igniter but.
If the igniter is not working the gas will not ignite preventing the dryer from heating.
As the igniter draws electric current it will heat to a high temperature and glow as well as cause the bi metal in the oven safety valve to warp and open the valve releasing the gas to be ignited.
Watch the igniter for several minutes to see if it stays lit or fades off.
Over time the ignitor s delicate metal can break.
I have a kenmore gas dryer model 110 73932101 which had no heat.
I replaced the glow plate igniter which fell apart after i removed it so i m confident it had cracked i still had no heat so i.
Start the dryer and watch the heating chamber.
If the ignitor doesn t glow on the other hand it may be bad or a fuse.
If the igniter has continuity this lets you know the problem is elsewhere.
If the igniter does not have continuity replace it.
If the igniter glows but the burner doesn t light then at least you know all the components in the control circuit are getting power.
Before beginning disconnect the appliance from the gas supply.
When all parts of the dryer are operational the ignitor will heat and begin to glow producing enough heat to ignite the gas once the valve opens.
To determine if the igniter has burned out u se a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity.
Remove the igniter and test it for continuity using a multi meter.
